The focal point is the terrace, from which views sweep across the ancient city of Chinguetti — its square minaret, sand-filled alleys, and the palm grove bordering the wadi. This is the natural spot for evening tea, when the low sun illuminates the ochre stone walls.

Dining features simple Mauritanian cuisine: mechoui, fish and rice (thiéboudienne), goat tagines, dates, and mint tea.

Location

The inn stands in modern Chinguetti, on the wadi bank opposite the ancient city — the one listed as UNESCO World Heritage since 1996. This setting provides an unobstructed view of the ksar while remaining within minutes on foot of the manuscript libraries and the 13th-century mosque.

Chinguetti is accessible from Atar via a track then asphalt road (allow 2 to 3 hours depending on conditions). The town is a classic departure point for the Adrar's ergs and camel treks through the Mauritanian desert.
