Chronicle of Shifting Sands – Abdel Kader

These chronicles present, from the author's personal perspective, the terms of a political debate in Mauritania centered on three recurring themes: Islam, National Unity, and the Rule of Law. Above all, they aim to be a testimony to an era, tracing the evolution of political thought in response to the principal contradictions of the Mauritania debate—if only to refresh the memory of an elite whose thinking has a tendency to lose itself in shifting sands.
