Difficulty Levels of Our Journeys
The hikes and treks we offer in Mauritania are in no way a sporting feat. However, it is important to choose your journey carefully so that it is perfectly suited to your expectations and your physical and mental abilities.
Several factors must be taken into account when determining the difficulty level of our journeys:
Physical factor: Your physical fitness will impact the journey's difficulty. Some days you'll feel stronger than others, and days may seem easier… it's very important to begin your journey in good physical condition to fully enjoy it.
Psychological factor: It is important that you are psychologically prepared and motivated to travel in the desert. Your commitment and mindset are crucial to the success of your journey.
Climate factor: This factor accounts for the different climates you'll encounter during your journey. The daytime heat, aridity, or the cold nights in the Adrar region influence the journey's difficulty.
Difficulty Levels:
Easy: 4 to 5 hours of walking per day. Journey accessible to anyone practicing regular walking. Slow pace, few technical difficulties.
Moderate: 5 to 6 hours of walking per day. Journey accessible to anyone with some endurance and experience in hiking or sports. Steady pace with minimal technical difficulties.
Moderate demanding: 5 to 7 hours of walking per day. Journey accessible to anyone with some endurance and experience in hiking or sports. Steady pace with moderate technical difficulties.
Demanding: 5 to 8 hours of walking per day. Excellent physical condition necessary as stages can be long. You must be able to maintain this pace over several days.
Challenging: Itineraries designed for experienced travelers. They require unwavering determination due to isolation and journey duration, along with excellent physical fitness.
